Is Hare Krishna Mahamantra Invented by ISKCON?
ISKCON is simply presenting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra which has been mentioned in various Vedas & Upanisads.
This mahamantra is the most potent and important method of purification in current times (also called age of Kaliyuga – aga of quareel & hypocrisy)
The Hare Krishna Mahamantra is mentioned in the ancient Kalisantarana Upanisad and it is universal & not a sectarian mantra for a particular type of people. This has been approve by saints & the Lord Himself.
In this Age of Kali the practical system of religion for everyone is the chanting of the name of Godhead. Whatever result was obtained in Satya-yuga by meditating on Visnu, in Treta-yuga by performing sacrifices, and in Dvapara-yuga by serving the Lord’s lotus feet can be obtained in Kali-yuga simply by chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra.
In the age of Kali the practices of austerity, yoga meditation, Deity worship, sacrifice and so on, along with their various subsidiary functions can not be carried out perfectly even by the most expert embodied souls. The most perfect penance to be executed in this world is the chanting of the name of Lord Sri Hari. Especially in the age of Kali, one can satisfy the Supreme Lord Visnu by chanting the mahamantra.
